Mt Ruapehu 2019 Ski Camp
This year Te Waka Ako went on a Ski camp, you could choose to do Skiing or Snow Boarding. We also chose our Bed buddies, we also had to find our ski gear, EG: Ski Jackets, Ski Pants, Gloves, Sunglasses or Googles there was some other stuff as well. Before Camp I felt a bit nervous and a bit bored because people said that Happy Valley was very easy and not steep but...read the whole thing to find out.
When we got on the Bus I was excited because we were visiting a few places like Hamilton Gardens. At Hamilton we looked around the gardens and we did a challenge to find things around the gardens. We also went to the Jim Baker playground and a school playground. When we got to the Backpackers we unpacked in our bedrooms. We slept on bunks and I was on the bottom of mine. After we unpacked we had dinner.
On the first day in the snow we went sledding and we also went up the new gonadal called the Sky Waka. When we got off the gondola at the top we had a photo. There was bit of a hill so we slid down it. When we had our first lesson I was exited because the slopes were bigger then I thought. We went up a traveller called a Magic Carpet, and went to the top a the first hill. The next hill was a bit hard because you had to get enough momentum to ski though a flat part. After the lesson we got not much free time as the second day. The second day we had a lesson and there was a different teacher, and the lesson was more boring. But the free time was very fun and we got to go on the chair lift by our selves. There was a blizzard in the lesson and and it hurt but I dealt with it.
My favourite bit was when I jumped off a tiny cliff and succeeded in jumping but not landing. I think that the year 3 and 4s are going to love ski camp because Happy Valley is the best. Skiing is real fun and I think snow boarding is the same. It is easy to get Ski Gear because you can borrow from the school or other people. It is a great for all people and they will have lots of fun. Here are some photos and two slideshows.
