Student Led Tool Kits

Student Led Tool Kits

Student Led Tool Kits

On the 28 of May 2019 24 Te Waka Ako students went to Hay Park School to do the Student Led Tool Kits. I was one of them. We got to choose some of our activities to do. I did droning, Scratch and Sphero. There was also Chrome music lab, Kahoot and more. Miss Daly (My Main Teacher) was very happy with the day.

The Tool Kits were with a cybersmart teacher Gerhard, who has made the Tool Kits happen. The droning was exciting because I learnt how to flip a drone and control it well. The Scratch was awesome because I made a guy walk around on grass. Sphero was cool because we got to race the sphero and code it.

Here are some photos.

Code.org

What's up guys, today I will be talking about (Drum roll please) you know it code.org. In case you have not heard about code.org let me explain. Code.org is a website that you can learn to code on. Coding is a way to control things. EG: games, computers, clocks and more. So basically our brain is the same, you have a brain code that tells you what movement to do.

Code.org gives you lessons of how to code. Like how many pixels you have to move. If you what to try it out ask your teacher or parent.  So try it out.  Anyway, if you what to make  a game this is thing for you. So in the first session you match things like shapes and things. Next you have to control a angry bird to stand on a Green pig. Then a few lessons later you have a man that you have to make him draw. There are many more levels and lessons that I have not done.

So see ya guys later.

The Narrative Blog

The Narrative Blog

Hey guys and girls! Te Waka Ako wrote narratives in term 1. This is the picture I chose. Also click on the image to check out my narrative.

Go read it seriously.

My thought about my narrative:

So I think my narrative went well because when I went to check the narrative to blog it, I got though first time. My characters were Tank Diver and Octo. (Later he is Octopuseus) Also the other guy in the picture is Tank Divers clone. The story's about Tank Diver turning his worst enemy in to his side kick. (spoiler alert)

Cya guys and girls

Tread Lightly Caravan

Tread Lightly Caravan

Hi Bloggers
On the second of April Waitemata (my class) did the Tread Lightly Caravan.
We had three stations. One was doing The Great Drain Game in the caravan. The second was going around the school in a duo and finding as many drains as possible. My duo found 45 drains. The last station had two stations in it. It was inside. One activity I had to wear Virtual reality goggles. With them we looked under water and learnt about pollution. And the other was learning about the grass lands that help stop pollution.

My favourite was finding the drains because we found them very quickly, and because we got to work as a team. I learnt the most inside because the group learnt what happens to bird and fish with plastic. What it's like under water, and how grass lands help pollution. The drain game is last on my list because we only learnt about were your water or soap goes when it's goes into the drain or sink. That's the end.

Mental Heath

Hi Bloggers
On Gumboot Friday New Zealand supports mental health.
Incase you don’t know what Gumboot Friday is, it’s about supporting mental health.
This is the second year they have done it.
They chose Gumboots because the people who have mental health problems,
for them it’s like they’re going through mud.
They have raised $315,352.99 towards mental health. You can still donate.

So for Gumboot Friday we made cards to deliver to random people around the school area.
The cards were to make people feel good about themselves.
The messages were like ‘Man I feel like you could light up my day’.
So we split into groups of about 8-9.
And we each put about 3 cards each in the letter boxes.

The card idea came about through the Healthy Puketapapa Student Questionnaire.
30 Te Waka Ako students did it. One of them suggested we do the card drop.
So the senior teachers decided to do them. That is the thought of how it started.

This also matches with our inquiry topic HAUORA - WELLBEING.
I think that this is great for our community to understand that they are great and so are you.
I think this is a great idea to help people with bad mental
health because they can do bad things in the future.
( I don’t want to offend anyone with mental health problems)
Cya later Bloggers.
